Conference Call for Papers: UHI Perth, 9-10 February 2026
In 2025, UHI Institute for Northern Studies, together with our collaborative partners from the National Library of Scotland and
Landscape Research Group, launched Mapping Identities: Visual Depictions of Scotland.
This project, funded through the generous support of an RSE Research Collaboration Grant, brings together scholars from a wide range of disciplines to explore the ways in which maps have been, and are still, used to interpret and shape Scotland’s understanding of the present, past and future.
In February 2026, the project will host a free hybrid conference at UHI Perth to explore this topic with colleagues. We warmly invite
expressions of interest in the form of 250-word abstracts and 100-word short biographies to be sent to Oisin Plumb
(oisin.plumb@uhi.ac.uk) and Andrew Lind (andrew.lind@uhi.ac.uk) by Wednesday 17 December.
